The Year of the Numbers!

Image
2017 is the year of celebrations! Wow!  So much to celebrate this year!  Major milestones!  Can't believe how fast this year is going! In February, Jeremy and I secretly travelled to Vancouver to surprise my BFF Valerie for her 40th!  It was a fun week that started off with us meeting her for dinner without her knowing we were there, then we were off to a wicked concert that kept Jeremy and I up for what ended up being almost 27 hours!!!  Definitley need to sleep in after that one! There was some old lady pampering at the nail salon and then a few days south of the border playing tourist in Seattle!  Although the week wasn't the best weather wise (no skiing happened like we had hoped), it was still fun to see them and celebrate! In March, my Dad turned 70!!  I didn't get to see him but of course I wished him a wonderful bday!! After that, there were a couple of weddings.....Adam and Lianna.....David ...

Let's get up to date!

It's been forever since I wrote something.  Felt like it was time again. A lot has happened since my last post......the desk got finished, the basement is somewhat cleaned up, and the gate.....well that hasn't happened! What has happened though......we have a new addition to our family. In February 2017, on my mother in laws birthday, Harley was born.  We didn't know it at the time but we were about to be fur parents again for the second time. This handsome little guy grew up really fast in the last 7 months!  He's as tall as Winston and about 53 lbs already!!  He's a howler, a jumper and loves to "find" things on the counter.  Oh and......he loves his big brother!!! Life now consists of managing these two and Jeremy.  But I wouldn't trade it for the world.💕💕

Procrastination

Why?  A question asked all they time. Why do we say we are going to do something but we don't end up doing it? I have many "projects" that I need done or want done.  I keep saying that I am going to do them, but I don't. It's a viscous cycle that gets us no where. Maybe that needs to be one of my "resolutions" for this year.  Accomplish some of the things that have been waiting to get done. 1.  Finish the desk. 2.  Build a gate on the deck. 3.  Clean and tidy the basement. Really, it can be done.  Time to put the mind and body to work so that it will get done!

New Year.....what's in store?

So it's 12:50 am as I start this.  I am waiting for some laundry to dry so I can fold it and head to bed.  Typical me....night owl who needs to be up early tomorrow!  Throw back to my days working in the T.dot! We are just one day into 2016 and already it's time to think about change. Change in routines, change in our thinking......but why do we wait until now?  I guess our mentality is that a new year is a fresh start??!!  So we try and hopefully things stick. Well, here we go...... 1.  Change in Jeremy's work schedule....means changing a lot.  We need to try and plan more since it is back to shift work.  Food planning is hopefully gonna happen as well as how we deal with Winston.  My boy is gonna be so confused!! 2.  Change in my attitude....I don't wanna hold onto shit.  When something affects me, I wanna deal with it and move on.  Too much baggage if you don't throw it away! 3.  Change in body....yep, that's right. ...

Money..........

Not sure if you have seen this lately posted on the web.  It's the "52 Week Money Challenge".  Each week you are supposed to save the corresponding amount, ie....Week 1 = $1.00' Week 2 = $2.00.  At the end of the year, you should have saved $1378.00!!  Crazy right!! So I wanted to be smart this year and really put the effort into saving as much money as I could.  Who doesn't, right?  Use this for emergencies or a vacation.  Maybe even use it to put towards a newer vehicle.  The possibilities are endless. Because we are a 2 income household, I made a tweak to it based on our situation.  I decided to do the savings amount for each day of the month!!  I figured I would stick with 30 days each month instead of going right to 31 in some months.  This is going to allow me to save $465.00 a month.  Do this for the whole 12 months and that's $5580.00 in one year!!! Now not everyone can do the challenge my way.  We don't all make t...

Its that time of year!!

The cold and dreary weather has finally set in.  A milestone for me.....buying winter boots!  Last year I gave in and bought a new coat so it seemed fitting. Thanksgiving has come and gone (in Canada....US Thanksgiving is coming soon).  With that being said, you know what is right around the corner!! MY BIRTHDAY!!!  LOL!  Oh ya, and Christmas! Mrs. Ree asked me 3 weeks ago when I will be coming to decorate her tree.  She then reminded me last Saturday that she was waiting for a date.....then again this weekend, same thing! Mrs. Ree's Tree 2012 Decorating Mrs. Ree's tree has been a tradition for so many years now, I can't even count them!  But last year was much different. Last year Valerie and Scott moved to BC.  This fact didn't really truly hit me until I went to decorate the tree. It was always just the three of us.  Val and I would start by adjusting the branches after they were crushed from being packed away...

So as I made my last post, there was excitement in the Goldie household.  What only a select few knew, we were about to become parents to the cutest little boxer puppy! He has changed our lives already in the short time we have had him.  I have become the proud Momma, constantly sharing photos of him.  And he loves to snuggle on the couch with his Daddy!! Fun times are ahead for us as we watch him grow, learn new things and and settle into his forever home!!! Welcome to our home Winston Alexander Goldie!!
